Find the Chord Music
Search for “Song Name You Want chords”. Look for a page having the chord music for your song that you want to use.
2
Simplify the Chords
Reduce complex chords to simple ones. Basically only keep the Chords that are either a single letter, or ones with the m, #, or b following. Any Chords that have a number or sus, or / (slash) with another letter next to it…. Remove. All that you should have remaining are single Letters, single letters with a #, or b, and possibly single letters with an m.
3
Practice the Progressions
Practice the chords in the order the song shows them, move your hands/fingers from one chord to the next. Do this until your right hand moves feel smooth and steady. With the Left hand you’ll only play the single note which is the same as the chord’s Letter, (sometimes # or b).
4
Play the Song
Play the chords along with the song to get a feel for how you may want to play. Practice playing the chords along with the song. You can keep the song in your thoughts while you play, play with the song playing, or sing along while you play. Practice in sections and then put them together. Once you are comfortable you can move to step 5.
5
Perform the Song
Add a simple intro/outro if you like. It’s not about perfection, it’s about enjoying and having fun with the song.
